PTO UPDATES and new paid sick time in 2026

Thanks for your patience as we update ADP to support our new PTO Policy, which went into effect Jan. 4, 2026. In addition to introducing a new sick time benefit for all regular part-time and full-time employees, we’ve also made some changes to how PTO is tracked, used, and cashed out this year.

*****JANUARY 16 UPDATE*****

  • If you look in ADP right now, your PTO Bank will show zero hours. The hours you had before have moved to your PTO Overflow bucket.

  • Your PTO bank balance will ONLY include hours you have accrued since Jan. 4, 2026.
  • If you had PTO scheduled or are taking PTO because of low census for the pay period ending Jan. 17, it will come out of your PTO Overflow hours.

TYPES OF TIME OFF

When you log in to ADP, you’ll see you now have three types of time off:

  • Paid Sick Time (PST)  for illness, medical appointments and safety needs; all employees will earn one hour for every 30 hours worked. All current employees (except per diem) start the year with 72 hours of PST. For per diem employees, hours in your Illness Bank will transfer over to Paid Sick Time, and you’ll continue to accrue one hour for every 30 worked.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) – for holidays, vacation and personal time; this will continue to accrue at your current rate. Use these hours first when requesting time off.
  • PTO Overflow – this is Paid Time off hours you earned before Jan. 4, 2026. No hours will accrue in this bank. You can use these hours just like regular PTO through Dec. 31, 2026; you can also opt to cash out up to 100 hours from your PTO Overflow balance each quarter (on payroll check dates of April 3, July 10, and Oct. 2, 2026). At the end of 2026, any hours left in your PTO Overflow will be cashed out.

Both PST and PTO will have annual rollover limits. You’ll be able to roll over up to 200 hours of PTO each year, and up to 72 hours of PST. At the end of 2026, NKC will provide a one-time cash-out of any hours left in your PTO Overflow bucket.

WHERE CAN I CHECK MY TIME OFF BALANCES?

Log in to ADP Workforce Manager Dashboard and look at the My Accruals tile. You can see the balance for each of your time-off banks (Paid Sick Time, PTO and PTO Overflow) by clicking the arrows on the left or right in the “My Accruals” tile to scroll through them.
